When the plate boundaries of the earth move, they create certain features. Some of these features include mountains, seafloor spreading, and faults. Different boundaries make different features.
Mountains
It is suspected that about 50 million years ago, the movement of the tectonic plates caused Asia and India to collide. This continental collision of the convergent boundary built mountains. When the boundaries collide, they will fold and bend slowly. One layer may slide on top of the other. The result is a mountain.
Seafloor Spreading
Seafloor spreading is caused by divergent boundaries. The earth's crust pulling apart from each other on the ocean floor causes magma from the mantle to rise and bubble to the surface to cool. This seafloor spreading can create new bodies of water and even new continents.
Faults
Faults are flat or subtly curved fractures in the earth's crust. Faults can range from being as small as a few centimeters or as large as several hundred kilometers. They can be shaped at any angle. When they are caused by transform boundaries, they are transform faults.
